Athlete faces attempted murder trial

A 20-year-old athlete is to go on trial for attempted murder.
Blaine Simmons, a Carifta Games sprinter, denies shooting Lo’Torean Durrant on March 19 last year.
Mr Simmons appeared in Supreme Court and Judge Charles-Etta Simmons set a provisional trial date of June 23.
Marc Daniels will defend Mr Simmons, who will plead not guilty to attempted murder, while the prosecutor will be Loxley Ricketts.
Mr Durrant, 23, was shot outside his home on Scotts Hill Road, Somerset, on March 19 last year.
Mr Simmons is being held in custody until his trial.
