A dangerous driver who forced oncoming motorists to veer out of his way has been banned from the road for 18 months.

Chris Furbert almost collided with a marked police car and repeatedly crossed over the central line as police officers pursued him from Paget into Hamilton in the early hours of December 29, 2015.

The 37-year-old of Warwick was eventually stopped on Front Street but rejected the idea that he had been driving dangerously.

Furbert did not attend Magistrates’ Court when he was supposed to and was later arrested on a warrant.

Yesterday he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined $1,000.
