Motorist refuses breath test

A man who refused to take a breath test was ordered off the roads for 18 months yesterday.

Daniel Tucker, from Devonshire, was spotted by police near the Esso gas station on Hamilton's Par-la-Ville Road.

Magistrates' Court heard that Tucker, 30, was unsteady on his feet as he approached his motorbike, which was parked near the junction with Church Street.

He was seen to put the key in the ignition and then dropped a bag of food.

He refused to take a breath test after he was questioned by police. The incident happened at about 2am on October 20.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe also fined Tucker $1,000 for the drink-driving offence.

He was also fined $1,350 for having no insurance or licence for the bike.
