Two women were banned and fined for roads offences.

April Jennings, was disqualified for 18 months and fined $1,000 after she admitted drink- driving when almost double the limit after a Christmas party.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Jennings, 58, from Devonshire, was stopped at a police breath test checkpoint on Queen Street in Hamilton on December 9 last year.

She told officers she had been drinking at a Christmas party.

A later breath test showed that she had 152mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.

Erin Kerr, who failed to stop after an accident and who refused to take a breath test, was disqualified for a year.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe was told Kerr, 41, of Warwick, hit a bike travelling in the opposite direction on Middle Road, Paget.

The collision catapulted the bike’s female passenger over a wall.

The injured woman was treated in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for multiple injuries and later discharged.

Kerr was arrested at her home after the crash, which happened on November 30 last year, and refused to take a breath test.

She pleaded guilty to the offence and was also fined $1,000, as well as $300 for failure to stop after an accident.
