Driver banned

A man pulled over by police after he appeared “unsteady” on his motorbike has been banned and fined for drink-driving.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Nelson Cabral, 39, was stopped by officers on Jubilee Road in Devonshire.

Cabral admitted he had been drinking and failed a roadside breath test.

A later test at Hamilton Police Station showed he had 120 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.

The incident happened at about 8.30pm on January 25.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe fined Cabral, who admitted the offence, banned him from the roads for 18 months and fined him $1,000.
