Man denies punching five-year-old son

A 38-year-old father has denied punching his five-year-old son.

The man, from Sandys, pleaded not guilty to an assault on the boy in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The incident is alleged to have happened on April 6 last year. The defendant cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case until May 27 and released the defendant on $1,000 bail.

She ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victim other than through supervised visits organised by the Department of Child and Family Services.
