Man accused of attempted gun murder

A man was accused yesterday of an attempted gun murder.

It was alleged in Magistrates' Court that Taaj Muhammad attempted “unlawfully to cause the death of” Kenneth Wade on June 13.

He was also charged with using a firearm in an indictable offence.

Mr Muhammad, 25, faced alternative charges that he unlawfully shot Mr Wade “with intent to do him some grievous bodily harm” and that he used a firearm in an indictable offence — “the shooting with intent” of Mr Wade.

Mr Muhammad, from St George's, did not enter a plea because the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe adjourned the case to July 22 to hear bail submissions and remanded Mr Muhammad in custody.
