A man was accused yesterday in Magistrates’ Court of of hitting and choking his wife.

John Young, 50, pleaded not guilty to an assault on Georgina Sosa.

The incident is alleged to have happened at their Devonshire home on January 8.

The court heard that the woman is alleged to have suffered bruising to her face and neck.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe adjourned the case until February 8 and released Mr Young on $3,000 bail.

He ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victim.
