Man, 36, charged with attempted murder of woman

A man was remanded in custody today after he was accused of attempted murder.

Jahmico Hayward, 36, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with attempting to cause the death of Nancy Mota and an alternative charge of wounding Ms Mota with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr Hayward was also charged with the unlawful possession of a bladed article.

The incident is alleged to have happened on March 27 in Smith’s.

Mr Hayward did not enter a plea as the matter must be heard in front of the Supreme Court.

The court heard that Mr Hayward, from Smith’s, could face life imprisonment if convicted of the offences.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case until the next Supreme Court arraignment session on May 3.
