Party’s over for man who breached lockdown

A party host was fined $4,000 yesterday after he admitted inviting guests to his home despite a Government’s stay at home order.

Magistrates’ Court heard that police went to a Paget house around 8.30pm on April 2 after they received complaints.

Officers saw about 12 vehicles parked near the house and about 20 people on the front porch - many of whom left after they spotted the police.

Joshua White, 27, told them that he lived in the house and admitted holding the party.

Officers warned him that he could be charged for organisation of a gathering of more than 10 people without permission.

White apologised and told magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo: “I didn’t intend for it to go as far as it did and I accept any consequences that come from it.”

Mr Tokunbo ordered White to pay the fine by August 31.
