Supreme Court returns to in-person hearings

Court: all parties are now expected to attend in person

Everyone involved in Supreme Court hearings is now expected to attend in person, it was announced today.

A direction issued this morning said: “While the courts have utilised Zoom to conduct remote hearings to address the difficulties with attending the courts in person as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, all parties are now expected to attend all court hearings in person.

“It will be at the sole discretion of the presiding judge or registrar to direct whether a court hearing can take place remotely, via Zoom.”

It added that searches of the Supreme Court Cause Book can be carried out during registry opening hours and no appointment is needed.

Electronic copies of the cause book can also be provided upon request.
