Jamaican woman denies being in Bermuda illegally

Magistrates' Court

A Jamaican national has denied living in Bermuda illegally for four months.

Gabrielle Gangadhar, 40, pleaded not guilty to the offence when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

She allegedly stayed on the island without permission between November 2022 and March 2023 and is remanded at the Co-Ed Correctional Facility in St George’s.

Director of Public Prosecutions Cindy Clarke confirmed that a deportation order has been issued for Ms Gangadhar, but could not say when the order was served.

Magistrate Tyrone Chin adjourned the case to Friday and remanded Ms Gangadhar in custody.
