Man referred to mental health court

A man who falsely claimed to have impregnated international celebrities and local public officers has been referred to Mental Health Treatment Court.

Jared Gordon, 33, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to a single charge of transmitting by telecommunication a message he knew to be false in an incident on September 11 last year.

The court heard that police received a report about an Instagram video post on October 18 and linked the account to Gordon.

In the video titled “Baby Mamas”, which had been viewed 66 times, Gordon claimed to have fathered children with a number of public figures including Cindy Clarke, the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Ms Clarke said in a statement that she had no children and that she had no dealings with Gordon, other than prosecuting him for past offences.

Police arrested Gordon at his home in Sandys and noted that the home appeared to be the location where the video post was filmed.

Earlier this year a short-form mental health report on Gordon was ordered, which found that he would be suitable for the Mental Health Treatment Court programme if he admitted the offence.

Gordon subsequently pleaded guilty to the offence and magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released him on bail until the treatment court’s next sitting.

Gordon previously spent time in prison for threatening David Burt, the Premier, in a series of e-mails written in 2017 and 2018.
