Fine for drink-driver who collided with parked car

A man who drove his bike into a parked car in Hamilton has been ordered to participate in a court treatment programme for drink-drivers.

Nekoda Bascome, 19, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that on March 19, Bascome struck the car on Parliament Street after he lost control of his bike.

He told police at the scene that he fell asleep while riding but admitted to drinking alcohol before getting on his bike.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered that he participate in DUI Court beginning on May 9 and released him on $1,500 bail.

Bascome was also disqualified from driving all vehicles until further notice.
