Man sentenced to drug treatment court for theft of tools

A man who stole tools valued at more than $800 from a Warwick store has been ordered to participate in drug treatment court.

Carlton Minors, 53, from St George’s, admitted stealing three items from Price Rite in Warwick when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Minors first took a DeWalt drill, valued at $185, from the store in April last year and stole two circular saws, each valued at $309, this month.

Staff identified Minors after both incidents through security footage and police charged him in connection with the offences on Saturday.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered that Minors participate in drug treatment court tomorrow and remanded him into custody until that time.
