Woman fined and banned from roads for drink-driving

A drink-driver who hit a wall while riding her bike has been banned from the roads for 18 months.

Cameron Simon, 24, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

The court heard that Simon struck a wall near St John’s Road and Moores Lane in Pembroke after losing control of her bike in February.

Police, who arrived at the crash scene a short time later, noticed that Simon’s eyes were red and smelt alcohol on her breath and took her to the Hamilton Police Station.

In addition to the ban, Simon was fined $1,500.
