Man, 45, pleads guilty to assaulting woman

A man punched a woman repeatedly and left her face bruised and swollen, Magistrates’ Court heard.

Craig Mullings, 45, admitted causing the woman bodily harm during the assault when he appeared in court.

The court heard that Mullings, from Pembroke, kept punching the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, inside her Devonshire home on June 25 this year.

The woman kept asking him to stop, and at one point was unable to breathe, the court was told.

She later reported the matter to police, who arrested Mullings the next day.

Mullings was also charged with sexual assault, trespassing and stealing the woman’s motorbike, also allegedly on June 25, but those charges were dropped.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered social inquiry and drug use reports for Mullings and adjourned the case to December 15 for sentencing. His bail was extended until that time.
