Woman banned from roads for one year

A woman who struck a motorist in Warwick has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for one year.

Chakeya Ottley, 35, admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Trisha Emery by driving her car without due care and attention when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Ottley, from St George’s, struck Ms Emery while turning from Middle Road on to Longford Road on October 18, 2023.

Ms Emery, who was riding a motorcycle, sustained a shattered shoulder and a split lip, which needed to be stitched, in the incident.

Ottley, who apologised to the court for her actions, was fined $1,500 in addition to being banned.
