Man sentenced to DUI Court

A man involved in a collision in Devonshire has been ordered to participate in a drink-drivers’ court treatment programme.

Sheldon Caisey, 51, admitted driving a car while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police spoke to Caisey after the two-vehicle collision, which occurred along Cedar Park Road on September 18.

Caisey, from Devonshire, admitted drinking before getting behind the wheel and was taken to Hamilton Police Station.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered that a drug use report be written for Caisey and that he take part in DUI Court beginning on October 22.

She released Caisey on $1,500 bail until that time and disqualified him from driving all vehicles until further notice.
