Trial jury hears voice notes made by murder suspect
The phone records of one of the defendants charged with the 2022 murder of Letrae Doeman were presented in Supreme Court yesterday.
Aaron Perinchief, along with Jukai Burgess, QuaZori Brangman and Nasaje Anderson, have pleaded not guilty to fatally shooting Mr Doeman in Flatts Village in the early hours of July 1, 2022.
Lauren Bell, an intelligence analyst with the Bermuda Police Service, said she had searched through thousands of WhatsApp messages and voice notes on Mr Perinchief’s phone.
A number of communications made by Mr Perinchief in the hours before and after the shooting were either read out or played to the jury.
In a series of messages to a woman, Mr Perinchief made references to guns and gangsters.
In one exchange he said: “I have more guns than them. I’m far from a gangster. I’m a gentleman”. The respondent replied: ”I don’t think you are.“
In another exchange made only a few hours after the killing, Mr Perinchief said that someone had “flatlined”.
He added: “They could have both died. LOL. They killed Bank. That was for Banky.”
Ms Bell also researched the internet history on Mr Perinchief’s phone and noted that there were several visits to websites featuring guns.
The trial continues.
