Drivers banned from roads

Two men involved in separate road crashes have been disqualified from driving all vehicles.

Alan Codrington, 50, and Lynzhi Scott, 25, admitted driving while impaired by alcohol when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police saw Codrington near Pender and Freeport Roads in Dockyard on April 9.

Codrington, from Sandys, told officers that he struck a nearby wall to avoid colliding with a motorcycle that he said had left the scene.

Officers smelt alcohol on Codrington’s breath and took him to Hamilton Police Station.

The court also heard that police questioned Scott, from Southampton, after he struck a wall on Sound View Road in Sandys on May 21.

They discovered that he did not have a driver’s licence and took him to Hamilton Police Station.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos fined Scott $1,200 for impaired driving, $200 for having no licence and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Ms Sofianos ordered that reports be written for Codrington, who admitted having a problem with alcohol, and ordered him to attend DUI Court starting on June 3.

Ms Sofianos released him on $1,500 bail until then and disqualified him from driving all vehicles until further notice.
