Man denies possession of ninja stars

A man has denied unlawful possession of several unusual weapons, including a sword cane and ninja throwing stars.

Damien Ingemann, 45, plead not guilty yesterday to two counts of possession of a sword cane with a 9.5in blade.

He also pleaded not guilty to possession of a Rambo knife, a folded pocket knife, a silver blade with a 2.5in cutting edge and three shuriken, also known as throwing stars.

Mr Ingemann further pleaded not guilty to possession of a slingshot with metal pellets and a “bedazzled” canister meant to carry pepper spray, it is suspected.

The incidents were alleged to have happened on Monday and Tuesday in Southampton.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson released Mr Ingemann, from Southampton, on $20,000 bail and adjourned the case until July 14.

She ordered him to abide by a 9am-to-6pm curfew and to report to Hamilton Police Station once a week.
