Man gets suspended sentence for assault

A man who assaulted and threatened to kill a woman has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Dahlano Simons, 37, admitted the offences when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court in May and reappeared yesterday for sentencing.

The court heard that Simons slapped the woman and threatened to “put a bullet in [her] head” on March 10.

Simons, from Pembroke, apologised to the court and the woman on Friday and acknowledged that he has anger problems.

Magistrate Craig Attridge sentenced him to three months in prison for the offences, suspended for two years, ordered him to complete two years of probation and warned him to stay out of trouble during that time.
