Teenager referred to DUI court

A teenager was ordered to take part in a court treatment programme yesterday.

Nash Storey, 18, admitted drink-driving when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that police stopped Storey, from Paget, at the Rubis East Broadway service station on June 21 after seeing him ride his bike erratically on Front Street.

Officers saw that Storey’s eyes were red, smelt alcohol on his breath and took him to Hamilton Police Station, where a breath test revealed 189 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.

Magistrate Craig Attridge ordered Storey to participate in DUI court beginning today, released him on $1,500 bail until that time and disqualified him from driving all vehicles until further notice.
