Teenage biker banned from roads
A teenager who rode dangerously throughout Southampton and Warwick was disqualified yesterday from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
Xymiko Williams, 19, appeared in Magistrates’ Court, where he admitted the offence, as well as not stopping for police, riding an unlicensed and uninsured cycle, not having a valid driver’s licence for the vehicle and not maintaining its tyres.
The court heard that on July 5 police watched Williams, from Warwick, overtake vehicles while speeding on Middle Road.
Officers signalled for Williams to stop, but he rode away from them before losing control of the bike.
Williams was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and Hamilton Police Station after the incident.
In addition to the ban, Williams was fined a total of $3,585 for the offences.
