Canadian national remanded for alleged drug trafficking
A Canadian national was remanded in custody yesterday after he was accused of trafficking drugs to Bermuda.
Michael McKenna, 54, was charged with the importation of cannabis and possession of cannabis with the intent to supply in Magistrates’ Court.
The incident was alleged to have happened on Sunday. The weight and potential street value of the alleged drugs were not read out in court.
Mr McKenna did not have to enter a plea because the charges were indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Craig Attridge remanded Mr McKenna, from Toronto, in custody.
He is expected to appear in the Supreme Court’s September arraignments session.
