Crown halts prosecution of Hamilton Parish man
Prosecutors have said they will not proceed with the case against a Hamilton Parish man accused of a 2023 drug plot.
Taureem O’Connor, 34, had been charged with conspiring to import cannabis, conspiracy to supply a controlled drug and concealing criminal property.
However, Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe told the Supreme Court that on July 15 he had received a nolle prosequi, a legal notice that indicated that the Crown no longer wished to move forward with the case against Mr O’Connor.
The judge discharged Mr O’Connor from the matter, but added: “That does not stop them from restarting proceedings against you.”
His co-defendants are scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court in September for their matter to be mentioned.
