Man charged with unlawful killing in Hamilton

A 43-year-old man was this morning accused of causing the death of a senior on Front Street last week.

John Paul Samuels, of no fixed abode, was charged with unlawfully killing James Burgess, 71, in an incident on August 7 in Pembroke.

Mr Samuels was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard by the Supreme Court.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson remanded the defendant into custody until October 1, when the case is scheduled to be mentioned in the higher court.
