Pharmacist appears in court
A pharmacist has been accused of not keeping a proper record of two types of prescription opioids.
Craig Marven Colwell, 62, faced two charges related to registering how much oxycodone he supplied when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.
Mr Colwell, from Southampton, was also accused of committing the same offences relating to tramadol/acetaminophen and two kinds of oxycodone/acetaminophen.
The Misuse of Drugs Act lists oxycodone and tramadol as Schedule 2 opioids that associated regulations state should only be administered by professionals.
As the case must be heard in the Supreme Court, Mr Colwell was not required to enter a plea to the offences, which allegedly occurred between December 1, 2020 and May 31, 2025.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to the November arraignment session, released Mr Colwell on $7,500 bail with a surety and ordered him to report to Hamilton Police Station every Thursday.
