Motorist receives 18-month road ban

A motorist who rode dangerously and forced other drivers to take evasive action, has been banned from driving 18 months.

Kashane Hayles, 22, admitted the offence, as well as not stopping for police, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police watched Hayles riding erratically at the junction of Middle Road and Khyber Pass in Warwick on August 9.

Motorists had to stop or take evasive action to avoid colliding with Hayles, who continued to ride dangerously and overtake vehicles until police stopped him on Lighthouse Road, Southampton.

Hayles, from Southampton, already had 20 active points on his licence before his court appearance.

He was fined $1,000 for dangerous driving and $200 for not stopping for police, in addition to being banned.
