Man admits fault for collision that left rider injured

A man involved in a collision that left a woman with several injuries has admitted driving carelessly during the incident.

Allan Ball Jr, 37, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to driving without due care and attention.

The court heard yesterday that Ball was travelling along Dundonald Street, in Hamilton, when he merged into its roundabout with Jackson’s Way and Serpentine Road.

At the time, he collided with a motorcyclist who had the right of way.

The motorcyclist suffered a sprained toe, a bruised knee and multiple scrapes. Ball was uninjured.

Both vehicles received moderate levels of damage.

The incident happened in the afternoon of May 12.

Ball, from Sandys, told the court: “I’d like to apologise to the victim and the court for my actions.”

Magistrate Maria Sofianos fined Ball $800 and added ten demerit points to his licence.
