A man has been charged in connection with the killing of a woman near the corner of Court Street and Dundonald Street last month.

Najee Simons, 24, was charged in Magistrates’ Court today with the murder of Janae Minors.

The charge read that Mr Simons, being concerned with others not before the court, murdered Ms Minors.

He was also charged with using a firearm while committing the offence.

The offences were alleged to have happened on September 16.

Mr Simons did not enter a plea because the matters were indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court.

He was also charged with the removal of a motorcycle from a property in Smith’s, on October 1, without the owner’s consent.

Magistrate Craig Attridge sent the matters to the Supreme Court’s December arraignments session and remanded Mr Simons, from Smith’s, in custody.

Ms Minors was fatally shot in her store, Beauty Monster, at about 4.45pm on September 16.
