Man charged with sexual assault and intrusion of privacy
A man has been charged in Magistrates’ Court with sexual assault of a female.
The 61-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was also charged with intrusion of privacy of another woman.
The man, from Devonshire, denied the offences when he appeared in court today and chose to have his case heard in Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that on October 1, 2024, the man sexually assaulted a woman.
The second charge read that between October 1 and October 10 last year, the man allegedly intruded upon the privacy of another female in such a way as to be likely to alarm, insult or offend a person.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos granted the defendant $3,000 bail with a like surety.
The man was also ordered to have no contact with any complainants or witnesses and the matter was adjourned to November 10.
