Rider gets 18-month road ban after crash

A man who crashed his bike in Warwick has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Caike Marques Valladao Bega, 29, admitted drink-driving when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police discovered Bega on Middle Road on May 17 with his bike after the crash.

Medical personnel treated Bega at the scene and took him to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Blood tests showed 99 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.

Bega, from Devonshire, was fined $1,500 for the offence in addition to the ban.
