Second man charged over fatal beauty shop shooting
A second man has been charged with the fatal shooting of a woman at a Hamilton beauty store last month.
Kinte Jashon York, 24, was charged with unlawfully killing Janae Minors when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.
Mr York, from Devonshire, was also accused of using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, namely murder.
He allegedly committed the offences on September 16, while being concerned with Najee Simons and others.
Mr York, whom the court heard is a soldier in the Royal Bermuda Regiment, was not required to enter pleas today as the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.
After considering whether to grant Mr York bail, magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered him remanded into custody until the December arraignments session.
Mr Simons, 24, from Smith’s, was charged with murder and using a firearm when he appeared in court last week, and was also remanded until arraignments in December.
He did not enter a plea because the matters were indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court.
Ms Minors was fatally shot in her Beauty Monster shop, near the corner of Court Street and Dundonald Street, at about 4.45pm on September 16.
