Woman ordered to attend DUI court

A woman involved in a crash in St George’s has been ordered to participate in a drink-driver’s court treatment programme.

Zoe Carswell, 32, admitted having control of a car with excess alcohol in her system when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police saw a damaged car that appeared to have a struck a guardrail on Cut Road on September 18.

Carswell admitted drinking before the crash and a breath test showed more than 263 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of her blood.

The reading put her more than three times over the legal limit of 80mg/100ml.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered a drug use report be written for Carswell, from St George’s, and ordered her to attend DUI court starting on Tuesday.

Ms Sofianos released Carswell on $1,500 bail until that time and disqualified her from driving all vehicles until further notice.
