A second public meeting on jury reform will take place tomorrow as the Government seeks to gather feedback on proposals.

Measures being considered include increasing the maximum age of eligibility for jury service, reducing the number of jurors required for trials, and increasing compensation for jurors.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said that the next public meeting on the topic will take place at 5.30pm tomorrow at the Paget Gospel Chapel on Middle Road through a collaboration with the Paget and Warwick parish councils.

Meanwhile, Kim Wilkerson, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, will appear on HOTT 107.5FM at 7.30am tomorrow and The Daily Hour show on December 4.

Ms Wilkerson said the first public meeting, held earlier this month at the Somerset Cricket Club, was a “meaningful step” in the consultation process.

She added: “The insights shared will help shape practical reforms that make jury service more inclusive and reflective of Bermuda’s community.

“This next meeting with the Paget and Warwick councils is equally important. It provides another opportunity for us to listen, to engage directly with the public and to ensure that any legislative changes truly serve the people they affect.”

The consultation period runs until December 31, with members of the public encouraged to visit forum.gov.bm to read the consultation documents and provide online feedback.
