Pharmacist charged with string of offences
A pharmacist appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday to face allegations that he obtained prescription drugs by deception.
Craig Marven Colwell, 62, from Southampton, was charged with ten separate offences that occurred on different dates between June 2021 and May 2025.
Mr Colwell was accused of three counts of concealing or falsifying pharmaceutical records required for accounting purposes to gain for himself or cause loss to Woodbourne Chemists, and one count of falsifying prescriptions and patient files.
He was also charged with obtaining through deception merchandise including 990 tablets or capsules of OxyNorm, a brand name of the controlled drug oxycodone, 500 capsules of oxycodone/acetaminophen, and 1,000 tablets of amphetamine salt in various dosages from Woodbourne Chemists.
Mr Colwell was further accused of possessing each of the controlled drugs with intent to supply outside his capacity as a pharmacist.
He was not required to enter a plea to the charges as the matter must be heard in the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos released Mr Colwell on $7,500 bail until January, when he is expected to appear in the Supreme Court for arraignment.
