Third meeting on jury reform scheduled
Members of the public can share their thoughts on jury reform during a third public meeting on the issue on Thursday.
Proposed reforms include reducing the number of jurors needed for trials, raising the maximum eligible age for jury service and increasing the amount of compensation offered to jurors.
The meeting, hosted by Hamilton Parish Council, follows earlier ones at Somerset Cricket Club and Paget Gospel Chapel last month.
Kim Wilkerson, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, will be at the meeting at Francis Patton Primary School.
She said: “These community meetings continue to show the value of open dialogue.
“The contributions from residents so far have been thoughtful and constructive, and they help to ensure that the final recommendations reflect the needs and expectations of the public.
“I encourage everyone with an interest in this important work to attend.”
• The meeting is set to start at 6.30pm. People can also submit feedback on jury reform via forum.gov.bm
