Man denies stealing $4,000 worth of jewellery from landlady
A man has denied stealing $4,000 worth of jewellery from his landlady.
Delton Woods, 30, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates’ Court yesterday to trespassing into the St George’s home of Rachel Cabot and stealing two bracelets worth $2,500 together.
The incident was alleged to have happened between August 25 and 28 last year.
Mr Woods further denied trespassing on Ms Cabot’s property on September 3 last year and stealing a $1,500 bracelet.
He also denied an alternative charge of knowingly handling stolen goods, namely the bracelets, between August 25 and September 3 last year.
The court heard that Mr Woods was a tenant of Ms Cabot.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case until January 19 and released Mr Woods on $5,000 bail.
She ordered him not to have any contact with the alleged victim or any potential trial witnesses.
