A 39-year-old man was accused of having two firearms, including a sub-machinegun that went missing from the Royal Bermuda Regiment.

Kyle Beckett, from Warwick, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with possessing a 9mm Uzi sub-machinegun, a 9mm semi-automatic Diamondback pistol and two rounds of ammunition.

All three offences were alleged to have occurred on December 12.

He was not required to enter a plea as the matter will be heard by the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos remanded Mr Beckett in custody until February 2, when the matter is set to be mentioned in the higher court.
