Man admits violently resisting arrest, escape of lawful custody

A man will face sentencing next month for a slew of offences including violently resisting arrest and escaping lawful custody.

Shameir Somersall, 21, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court yesterday to an assault on Pc Teriann Marshall while resisting his own arrest and violently resisting Pc Robert Butterfield.

Somersall also pleaded guilty to escaping lawful custody, dangerous driving, driving without using headlights and failing to stop when signalled by police, as well as driving without third party insurance and driving without a valid licence.

The offences happened on November 15 in St George’s.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered Somersall, from St George’s, to undergo a social inquiry report.

She adjourned the case until January 29 for sentencing and remanded him in custody until that time.
