Two men incur driving bans for road offences

Two motorists were banned from Bermuda’s roads after separately admitting to several traffic offences.

Malcolm Symonds, 63, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to driving while disqualified, along with riding an unlicensed and uninsured bike.

Symonds, of no known address, committed all offences at the junction of Front Street and Burnaby Street on October 5, 2025.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos fined Symonds $1,850 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for a further nine months.

Ms Sofianos also ordered a report be written for Symonds and released him on $2,500 bail with a surety until February 17.

Zane Bennett, 27, admitted speeding at 63km/h, driving an unlicensed car and two parking offences.

The court heard that Bennett, from Devonshire, committed the offences between November 2024 and November 2025 and had existing points on his licence.

Ms Sofianos fined Bennett $1,480, added eight points to his licence, disqualified him from driving for six months and gave him until January 12 to pay the fines.
