Disqualified driver gets further road ban
A man who rode a bike while disqualified has been banned from driving all vehicles for two years.
Zion Castle, 21, admitted the driving offence, as well as speeding at 73km/h and 87km/h, when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The offences occurred between December 14 and January 3.
Castle, from Devonshire, was banned from driving all vehicles for 17 months in May after he admitted several traffic offences.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos extended Castle’s disqualification period and fined him a total of $2,000.
Ms Sofianos ordered that court staff assess Castle’s suitability to complete community service hours in lieu of paying fines and extended his bail until February 6.
She also warned Castle that he could face prison time if he drives while disqualified again.
In a separate case, Deja-Nee Smith admitted disobeying a traffic sign yesterday.
Smith, 30, committed the offence in July 2024 and had 15 existing points on her licence before her court appearance.
Ms Sofianos added two additional points to Smith’s licence and disqualified the Pembroke resident from driving all vehicles for eight months.
