Motorists banned for road collisions

Two motorists involved in separate road collisions have been disqualified from driving all vehicles for six months.

Jamil Santucci, 65, and Daesha Smith, 28, admitted driving without due care and attention when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Santucci rode his bike into another vehicle’s lane after overtaking a car along South Road on July 4, resulting in a collision.

Santucci, from Devonshire, spent four days in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after the incident.

He told the court that he did not remember anything about the collision and only recalled waking up in the hospital.

The court then heard that Smith, from Hamilton Parish, drove into the path of a car while turning from North Shore Road on to Cottage Hill Road on August 29.

Santucci and Smith were fined $900 each in addition to being banned.
