Man sentenced for fight in City park

A man involved in a fight in Queen Elizabeth Park has been sentenced to time served in custody.

Eric DeSilva, 40, admitted taking part in a clash in the Hamilton park, an increased penalty zone, when he appeared in court yesterday.

DeSilva, from Sandys, originally denied the offence, as well as having a knife with a four-inch blade in the park, when he appeared in court in June and has been behind bars since then.

Prosecutors dismissed the knife charge yesterday and magistrate Auralee Cassidy sentenced DeSilva to time already served behind bars for the fighting offence.
