Woman denies drug conspiracy, weapon charges

A woman has denied conspiring to import cannabis into Bermuda more than three years ago.

Chanel-Marie Bento pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiring to import more than 2,500 grams of the controlled drug when she appeared before Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe last week.

Ms Bento, from Sandys, allegedly committed the offences between an unknown date and August 31, 2022.

She also denied having two imitation mobile phone Tasers. Ms Bento allegedly had the prohibited weapons in Sandys on February 28 last year.

Mr Justice Wolffe adjourned Ms Bento’s case to March 6 and extended her bail until that time.
