Man denies impaired driving

A man who denied being drunk behind the wheel has been granted bail.

Makai Christopher-Lindsay, 34, pleaded not guilty to impaired driving in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Mr Christopher-Lindsay drove a motor vehicle along North Shore Road on December 28 “after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, blood or urine exceeds the prescribed limit”.

The court also heard that Mr Christopher-Lindsay’s ability to drive was impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson granted the defendant $3,000 bail.

The matter is scheduled to be heard in Magistrates’ Court again on March 23.
