A man who took part in a fight at Southampton Rangers Sports Club will be sentenced in April.

Adrinho Smith, 20, admitted the offence when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

Smith, from Warwick, took part in the fight, which resulted in a football match between Paget and Devonshire Colts at Southampton Oval being cancelled on November 23.

The Royal Gazette earlier reported that police were called to the oval just before 3pm that day after a group of about five men tried to assault a player in the Paget squad.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered a social inquiry report for Smith and released him on $1,000 bail with a surety until April 26, when he is expected to be sentenced for the offence.

Smith was ordered not to attend Southampton Rangers or contact civilian or police witnesses.
