Impaired driver banned from roads
A man who crashed into a parked car in Pembroke has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
Shirra Lowry, 52, admitted driving while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court Wednesday.
The court heard that Lowry crashed into the car after losing control of his cycle at the junction of Ewing Street and North Street on February 3.
Lowry, from Devonshire, sustained a cut lip in the crash and was taken to the Hamilton Police Station after the incident.
Lowry told magistrate Craig Attridge that he was drinking on that day because it marked four years since his friend, former Prison Officer Daemon Bell, was killed.
In addition to the ban, Lowry was fined $1,500 for the offence.
